Mosquito Lagoon on the east coast of Florida opens out to the Atlantic Ocean. It is a natural ecological haven surrounded by many small uninhabited islands. Sand bars appear at low tide. When the sun is out and an ocean breeze is blowing, this lagoon can be nature at its finest. Clouds seem to be a mile high. It is a beautiful place to be, whether to paint or fish or enjoy the scenery. I had to paint this in many layers to portray the sand and depths of the water. 12 x 18" Original Oil on masonite. $800 Framed

Palm Afternoon, a Coastal Florida Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

Artists have painted many scenes like this, but I tried to be different by making mine very textural. Heavy layers of paint on the palms, the sand and the seaweed give dimension to the foreground. The angle of the sun creates good tension with deep shadows in the underbrush and highlights on the tops of the palms and mangroves. And I Will Walk With You, an Oil Painting of Footprints by Judy Batterson

This 4 x 12" oil painting was commissioned by my friend Annie. She took photos of her toes and wanted her own version of
the story known as "Footprints". A little whimsy mixed with symbolism makes this unique. With His arm around her shoulder, she and her Lord are both facing the future together, standing at the edge of the ocean, ready to go deeper still. Although not my usual landscape painting, this was such a joy and humbling experience to paint the feet of my friend. It was like washing her feet.
