Indulge Your Inner Princess, a Painting of Stiletto Heels by Judy Batterson

Not my typical Florida oil landscape painting! But these are the shoes of a Florida native! In fact, they cost her over $1,000. So I thought I would paint a portrait of her shoes for posterity! They are her handmade dream stilettos, embedded with little Swarovski crystals. She danced the night away (but couldn't walk the next day!). Women and their shoes. What can we say?!
This is a 9 x 12" acrylic painting. The original sold to the owner of the shoes! Giclees available on request. For other paintings of Florida landscapes, see www.judybatterson.com.

Poinciana and Oranges, a Florida Oil Landscape of Orange Grove, Poinciana Tree, Old Florida by Judy Batterson

A large poinciana tree is in bloom with brilliant red blossoms. Across the path is an orange grove laden with fruit. The interplay of light and shadow is shown by the sunlight on the bright colors of red, orange and green while billowing clouds stand out against a dark sky. Florida heat leads to afternoon thunderstorms, and the painting tells this story. Large and colorful, this is a painting of Florida the way it used to be and can still be found down sandy back roads. Original Oil on masonite. 21 x 36 " $2400

Garden of Eden, Oil Painting with Palm and Stream by Judy Batterson

“Garden of Eden” from Genesis. Eden, the garden of God, is full of symbolism. The description is in Genesis 2. Abundant fruit-bearing and beautiful trees grew there while a stream watered the Garden. Archeologists believe that the date palm was one of the first trees in the Garden. It was a place of peace and serenity. This is my glimpse into the Garden of Eden. The painting will be used for the cover of a book of poetic and healing prayers. May this picture bring peace to those who view it, especially as they read the prayers soon to be published. The book will be available in 2011 at the Glennon House in Winter Park, FL. 18" x 24" original oil, $1500 and beautifully framed.

Old Florida, a Florida Oil Landscape with Palm and Water by Judy Batterson

Take a trip into the heart of Florida along trails next to lakes and creeks. There is always dense foliage along the edge of the dark water which reflects the blue sky and palms. Patches of sand and reeds are dotted between the land and water. This is "Old Florida", a vast ecosystem of saltwater marshes and freshwater lakes. This painting captures the sunlight highlighting the edge of a Florida lake. The light beams into the shadows and highlights the palms and sand. This is the old Florida I remember as a child when my friends and I would "go exploring" in the woods. The good news is the beauty of hidden lakes can be found today not only down hiking trails but also in parks and preserves. In this painting, Florida's wild beauty translates into color and light. Original 8 x 10 oil on masonite. $395 Framed

Egret and Lily Pads, a Tropical Oil Landscape by Judy Batterson

I was standing next to this pond when suddenly a large white egret swooped down and landed in the water. The egret ignored me and went about the business of catching fish and eating them. I took as many photos as I could while the bird was occupied with fishing! The setting and lighting were perfect. The dark water was a perfect contrast for the white bird. The lily pads added an impressionistic touch. It was a Florida moment meant to be painted. The bright colors add a whimsical touch. 16 x 20 Original Oil on canvas $1200 wwwljudybatterson.com

Hammock Sunset, a Florida Coastal Oil by Judy Batterson

A beautiful sight to witness along the Florida coast is a glorious sunset reflected in the waterways and hammocks. Palms are silhouetted against a fiery sky. This painting shows a mass of clouds overhead which appear dark against the bright setting sun.

A Florida Day, Highwayman Style Mini Oil Painting by Judy Batterson

This is a mini oil painting version of a Highwayman style painting. The painting has blowing palms and brightness in the sky which is reflected in the water, reminiscent of their style. It sits on a mini easel. I have such respect for the Florida Highwaymen!
All of my mini paintings will be on display at the Ivanhoe Art Stroll near Orange Ave. and Princeton St. in Orlando, Florida on Friday night Nov. 5 from 6-9pm. If you are in the area, stop by! We will have music, food and art...and cold weather moving in!
